Our family is growing! On January 5th 2011 we learned that another child will be a part of our family in September! We are truly thrilled. We didn't tell Rowen until today (March 5th) because we wanted to make sure we had made it through the first trimester and we have. We have already had 3 ultrasounds- one to date the pregnancy, one due to some spotting, and one because the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler at my 10 week appointment. All three ultrasounds showed everything looking good. We are so grateful and thankful for this little life.

The video below is only a small portion of the entire video we took this morning when we told Rowen the big news. For some reason I can't get the entire video to upload onto our photo site so this is what we have for now...

He proceeded to giggle more and more and then he pushed my shirt up to look at my belly. He wanted to know how the baby was going to get out of there. I didn't really know what to say but we made it through that question okay. We explained that the blue onesie was for a baby brother and the pink one was for a baby sister and that it will be a surprise when the baby is born. Rowen picked both up and hugged them to his chest and said, "I really like girl babies". We talked briefly again about how it might be a boy or it might be a girl and he seemed okay with that for now. We also read the book we gave to him called Waiting for Baby. Rowen listened to it intently and asked lots of questions. He asked when the baby would be here and Daddy did a great job explaining that first we have to wait for spring, then plant our garden (something he talks about often), then wait for the tomatoes to grow and ripen (his favorite part of the garden), then eat the tomatoes up and then finally the baby would be ready to be born.

Later this morning Rowen enthusiastically told Grammy and Papa and Nana and Grandpa (they all already knew but pretended to be surprised!) that he is going to be a big brother. We are so proud of our little guy. He is already proving to be a wonderful Big Brother!
