Rowen has always had a huge imagination and his love for pretend play only grows as he gets older. I adore this about him. He becomes engrossed in everything he plays and pretends, truly becoming a part of the story that he has imagined and is making come to life... something we know will only help him in life. From having these experiences with Ro, we knew that he would completely LOVE the idea of Santa. And we were right! Rowen has been singing songs about Santa since early November with his Grammy. We learned that he is not too fond of the song, "Santa Clause is coming to town" after he really listened carefully to the lyrics :). However, he adores all Christmas songs and asks to sing them over and over again. He loves to play pretend Santa, talk about Santa, ask questions about Santa (mostly about his reindeer for some reason), and read books about Santa. We have been entrenched in Santa not because we are forcing it on Rowen but because he is truly interested, amazed, and he without a doubt believes! I was so excited to see his reaction on Christmas morning when he finally got to see what Santa had made especially for him...
This video is very dark and not taken well but you get the idea of his excitement while coming down the stairs:. It is best to let it load completely before watching it.
Rowen on Christmas morning
Santa moved Rowen's train table from the play room into the living room all by himself! He left several Thomas Trains, Creaky Cranky (the wrapped gift), and a few fun things in his stocking as well (SnotRod did make it to Rowen's stocking from the North Pole!).
Rowen played and played with his new toys from Santa for hours. We know that these toys will be a part of his pretend play for years to come! Once again we, Rowen made this day incredibly special by just being our Rowen.
