Father's Day

Yesterday was a special day for me, it was Eric's first Father's Day. You may be wondering why it was so special for me when it was really his day... well, there are a few reasons. First, I love him even more now that he is our son's daddy. From the moment Rowen was born I fell more in love with my husband- and I didn't think I could love him more because I already loved him so immensely. Second, I have always known that having children with Eric would be special. He is a fun, loving, serious, goofy, responsible, hardworking, thoughtful man and all of these qualities and many more make him a wonderful father to Rowen. And last, Eric is healthy! He gave me a big scare recently with that whole pneumonia thing :). I don't know what I would do without him and right now I am just so grateful that he is mine!

Happy Father's Day honey!

I would also like to say Happy Father's Day to my dad... still my number one hero! Thanks for all you do for me and my family dad.

Chatter bug...

December 2011:
I overheard Eric and Rowen talking one night while Eric was putting Rowen to bed.
Ro: When I get bigger I will already have a kid.
Eric: You will?
Ro: Yeah- baby brother.
Eric: Oh. Well baby brother will grow up too.
Ro: Oh. Well someday he will be 3.
Eric: When he is 3 how old will you be? You will be 7.
Ro: I will be bigger.

Rowen was drying himself off after a shower.
me: You are such a big boy- growing up way too fast for mama. Please stay little forever! (I am teasing him a bit)
Ro: I am growing up mom.
me: pretty soon you will be as big as daddy and someday you will have little kids of your own.
Ro: NO! I don't want kids.
me: why not?
Ro: because I would have to get married. I don't ever want to get married.
me: why not?
Ro: because I want to live here forever!

November 2011:
Rowen gets a few meanings mixed up...
The one that causes the most drama is the meanings of on accident and on purpose
Ro:"It was on purpose mommy!"
Me: "You mean it was an accident?"
Ro: while crying, "No! On purpose!"
Me: "I think you mean it was an accident."

this goes on and on :)

Rowen has been calling Paxton "Paxti". Cute but we are not sure if little brother is going to like it when he gets older :).

Rowen rubbed my tummy a few months after giving birth to Paxton and gasped, "Mommy is having another baby!".

May:
While eating lunch Rowen bit his tongue, something that happens often to Rowen! He yelled out in pain, very dramatically like he always does. Then he said in a very stern, grumpy voice, "When I am big and play basketball I am going to wear one of those mouth things so I don't bite my tongue!"
I called Eric at work to tell him about this incident because it was so funny to me and Eric said that recently while watching a basketball game together Eric had explained that one of the players had a mouth guard in and that it helped the player not bite his tongue.

January:
During dinner one evening with Grammy and Papa Rowen said, "I am going to count my family."
He started by putting all the fingers on one hand up and while pointing to each finger he said, "Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, Papa," and then with such surprise in his voice and face he pointed to his pinky finger and said, " and there is me!".

After daddy had given Ro a hug before his nap Rowen said, "He is my favorite guy in the whole wide world!"

After reading a book about ocean animals with me Rowen said, "Whales are strange creatures! They eat fish!"

December:
"I love you mommy. You are my favorite person."

"I like Daddy the best!" when getting into a bit of trouble with mommy :). Oh my! What are the teenage years going to be like?

November:
Rowen likes to make up new words all the time. He thinks this is hilarious. One of his favorite new words right now is pinetwine. Don't ask me how he came up with that one but it results in fits of giggles from Ro and mommy and daddy every time! In addition to making up words Rowen likes to change the pronunciation of words- he will mumble words or leave out one important sound or add another sound. We have also heard him try to use a slight British accent a time or two- I'm sure this is from watching way too much Thomas The Tank Engine!

Rowen was telling me about his day at Grandpa and Nana's. He was towards the end of his play by play description of the day...
Ro: Then I took a rest and mommy came to pick me up!
What?! (in a very dramatic voice). I confused my mind! It wasn't mommy it was Grammy!
