1 Year Well Baby Check

On Thursday Rowen had his 1 year well baby check up. As usual he showed off for his favorite doctor (who I won't name on our blog :)) by showing off all of his new tricks and talking her ear off. She asked me if he had been "tantruming". I said, "Yes, in fact he has been quite a bit!". She laughed and said that she wasn't surprised due to his "strong personality" and "being so verbal". She assured me that he is right on track in all areas if not a bit ahead of the game in the commuinication department. We are so proud of our little guy!

1 Year Stats:

Weight: 24 lbs 65%

Height: 31 1/2 inches 87%

Head circumference: 19 inches 92%

• becoming more interested in walking- is attempting to let go of things and walk away (ends up falling but he doesn't seem to mind too much)
• loves cars- pushes them around the house and makes "vroom, vroom" noises
• Walking behind his many walkers (red race car, yellow shopping cart, pooh bear airplane)
• Loves to go under things and through small spaces
• signing for "more", "all done", "eat/food/hungry", "ball", "give it to me/I want that"
• says "mama" and "dada" clearly and consistently now
• loves to eat fruit of any kind, especially apples and oranges (we have to put a kitchen towel over the fruit bowl because he points at it all day long and signs for "eat")
• has favorite books he demands to have read to him- he will find his favorite books in a pile of books and hands them to us, right now he loves 5 Little Monkeys, Baby Signs, Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.
• loves to be tickled
• kisses animals in his books
• loves to push anything- shovel, broom, vacuum, stroller
• dances and claps hands to any music he hears- especially music from our cell phone rings
• slept in for mama and dada over vacation!
• as always- LOVES his grandparents more than his own mom and dad!
