Camping Trip #4 2009- Volk Family Fun!

This past weekend we went camping with Eric's family. We haven't seen Eric's older brother since Thanksgiving so it was really nice to catch up with him and his wife and his step daughter. The only word to describe the weekend besides fun is HOT! We felt like we were getting baked in an oven which resulted in Eric and I coming home a day early. We couldn't sleep comfortably and the heat was a bit much for Rowen. Thank goodness Grandpa and Nana have a motor home with AC!!! Rowen watched Shrek and took a 3 hour nap in the motor home on Saturday. It was a life saver :). We went out on the boat a few times which Rowen just loves. He always wants to drive so guess what? He usually gets to help Grandpa steer the boat.

The heat didn't stop us from having fun though...

Fun at the beach- Grandpa, Rita, Rowen, daddy, and Sydney

Uncle Travis and Sydney getting ready to relax on the water

Rowen enjoyed a ride back from the boat on Uncle Shon's shoulders.

Rowen entertaining Aunt Krista and Sydney. Rowen fell in love with Sydney all over again.
They played together all weekend.

More beach fun with Grandpa :)
Thanks Nana and Grandpa for such a fun weekend!
We came home on Saturday night, bringing Travis, Krista and Sydney with us. They spent the night at our house, then in the morning we enjoyed a yummy breakfast before heading to River Front Park. Rowen loved riding on the "Berry Go Round" with dada. As soon as the ride stopped he signed for "more". They rode the ride 4 times and he wanted to go again but we had to move on to other things.
After Travis, Krista, and Sydney left for home Eric and I went out on a last minute date to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. We had a great time talking about our fun weekend, our sweet little boy, and our future plans as a family.

We took this picture as our 6th anniversary photo.
By the time we got home on Sunday night from our date we were so exhausted. We all snuggled up in bed to watch Seseme Street before bedtime. I remembered last minute that we needed at least one photo to remembering our 6th anniversary. I think this photo is great- it really illustrates our life right now... happy, tired, busy, content, and in love with each other and our son.
